Kate Middleton’s secret ‘olive branch’ to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle with Anzac outfit choice

Tea Duchess of Cambridge may have subtly extended an olive branch to prince harry and Meghan Markle with her latest outfit choice.

Kate Middleton made a surprise appearance at an Anzac Day memorial service on April 25, wearing a recycled Alexander McQueen dress she has chosen for several key royal events.

The recycled coat dress, which she paired with Princess Diana’s Collingwood earrings and a Jane Taylor headband, is a favorite of the Duchess, after she wore it to her daughter Princess Charlotte’s christening in 2015.

Most significantly, however, Kate wore the stunning outfit at Harry and Meghan’s 2018 wedding, and the choice to re-wear the dress at a public Anzac Day engagement could symbolize a turning point in her relationship with the former royals.

Alexander McQueen holds a special place in Kate’s heart, as she chooses to wear this label at major royal milestones – including her own 2011 wedding.

The Duchess is also often intentional with her fashion choices, with her royal wardrobe carefully curated to ensure it sends the right message.

Meghan and Harry did not visit Prince William and Kate during their whirlwind sojourn to the UK before they flew to the Netherlands for the 2022 Invictus Gameshowever Kate’s subtle nod to the couple could symbolize a new dawn for them.

The frosty rift between the royal brothers has been the subject of speculation since Harry and Meghan’s engagement in 2017.

Royal author Tina Brown writes in her new book The Palace Papers that it began after William was reportedly “concerned” over the speed of Harry’s relationship with Meghan.

“A person close to the Duke of Cambridge told me that William thought she should have more time to build up a life in the UK and make friends who didn’t always have to be brought in confidence to the Palace,” Brown writes.

“It had been hard enough for Kate, but Meghan was a glamorous actress who would be the first woman of color to join the Royal Family, factors that would add enormously to the pressure.”

Brown added: “Unspoken to Harry, the person said, was the older brother’s fear that Harry’s mental fragility was such that he wouldn’t be strong enough to handle all of that on his behalf, as well as his own issues.”

Meghan and Kate have had their own separate issues, which were laid bare in the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s explosive interview with Oprah in 2021.

The former actress spoke about rumors she had made Kate cry in the lead-up to her 2018 wedding, claiming to Oprah: “The reverse happened”.

The Duchess of Sussex claimed that “everyone in the institution knew” that the rumors circulating the press at the time weren’t true. Without divulging too much, Meghan revealed that Kate had apologized and all had been forgiven.

“She’s a good person. If you love me you don’t have to hate her, and if you hate me you don’t have to love her,” Meghan said.
