The IRIS-T SLM air defense system achieved a 100% hit rate in Ukraine, even in attack waves with more than 12 targets.
The manufacturer, Diehl Defense, made the claim while announcing the delivery of the second IRIS-T SLM system to Ukraine on May 25.
In an official statement, the company said: “The IRIS-T SLM system has shown excellent performance in combat conditions since it was put into operation in Ukraine. According to the customer, the system achieved a 100% hit rate even in attack waves with more than 12 targets. The system is also slated to be purchased by the German Bundeswehr.

Earlier this year, a Ukrainian soldier told Reuters, “Our air force commander said the IRIS-T hit 51 out of 51 targets; That is, a 100% interception rate for Shahed drones and cruise missiles.”
The commander of the Ukrainian Air Force, Lieutenant-General Mykola Oleshuk, said in a statement on Telegram on May 3 that the IRIS-T system has destroyed more than 60 hostile air targets over Ukraine since its delivery in October 2022.
Diehl Defense is the general contractor and integrator of the IRIS-T SLM system and all its components; The company also supplies the guided missile launcher and missiles. HENSOLDT provides TRML-4D multifunctional radar. The Integrated Battle Management Software (IBMS-FC) fire control software for the command center comes from Airbus.
The system has a range of 40 km, a height of 20 km, and a price of 140 million euros.
The IRIS-T SLX missile is currently under development with a further increase in performance to a range of up to 80 km and an altitude coverage of 30 km.
