Yesterday, Saturday, the Russian Ministry of Defense said that Mi-35 military helicopters of the Russian Western Military District succeeded in eliminating Ukrainian command posts and armored vehicles in the area of special operations.
“As a result of the continuous combat service, a camouflaged command post and armored units of the Ukrainian army units were destroyed,” TASS quoted the Russian Defense Ministry as saying.
As she described it, Mi-35 helicopters have been deployed around the battle lines. They were accompanied by fire support teams on Mi-8 transport helicopters with gunners and medics on board.
She added that in an emergency, the crew of the Mi-8 would provide fire cover for the Mi-35 and evacuate the soldiers to their permanent base.
The Mi-35 multipurpose attack helicopter is a modernized version of the Mi-24. These helicopters are designed to destroy enemy armored vehicles and troops, and provide fire support to motorized rifle forces and armored vehicle units.
The Mi-35 can also carry soldiers and cargo in its cabin.
At the same time, it carries external weapons, such as Shturm-V anti-tank missiles, rockets, machine guns of various calibers, bombs, and more.
