Russian reports said that Ukrainian soldiers used a German Leopard tank for the first time during the offensive near Voldar. This information was disclosed by sources associated with the Marine Corps to the Vostok group. Footage of the alleged tank was posted on the Internet.
Alexander Khodakovsky, Deputy Chief of the National Guard of the Donetsk People’s Republic, confirmed this information. He stated that during the offensive on the southern Donetsk sector of the front on Ogildar, the Armed Forces of Ukraine used German Leopard 2 tanks for the first time.
Despite the doubts about the reliability of such reports, Khodakovsky’s statement and the released footage gave it great weight.
The Leopard 2 is a third generation German main battle tank. Developed by Krauss-Maffei in the 1970s, the tank entered service in 1979 and replaced the earlier Leopard 1 as the main battle tank of the West German Army.
