Russia destroys the last warship of the Ukrainian Navy “Yuri Oliverenko”

On Wednesday, the Russian Defense Ministry said that Russian forces had destroyed the last Ukrainian warship in the port of Odessa.

The ministry said in a statement: “On May 29, as a result of a strike with a high-precision weapon of the Russian Aerospace Forces in .. the last warship of the Ukrainian Navy, Yuri Olefirenko, was destroyed in the port of Odessa.”

The warship Yuri Olefirenko is classified as a corvette and has been in service with the Ukrainian Navy. The corvette was built in the late 1990s in Russia, but was later transferred to Ukraine after the collapse of the Soviet Union.

The ship has gone through several modernizations over the years, including an overhaul in 2016.
