Officially.. Morocco contracts for Israeli Merkava tanks

رسميًا.. المغرب يتعاقد على دبابات ميركافا Merkava الإسرائيلية

According to an article published by the Moroccan newspaper “Le Desk”, which is known for its reliability in publishing Moroccan military deals, the Kingdom of Morocco will receive the Israeli-made Merkava main battle tanks.

The newspaper did not specify in its article the type of issuance that Morocco intends to contract for.

An export agreement for the Israeli “Merkava 2” and “Merkava 3” tanks was announced: part of the shipments will be delivered to Cyprus to replace 41 T-80U / UK tanks transferred to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and another part to Morocco to replace the T-72B tanks, As reported by Dana Levy on her Twitter account.

According to Dana Levy, Israel’s condition for Cyprus and Morocco is not to provide, donate, re-export or sell these Israeli tanks to Ukraine. Since the tanks are Israeli, the change of ownership after donating them to Morocco and Cyprus cannot take place without Israeli permission. This ensured that the tanks would not head to the front in Ukraine.
