The Belarusian Army received the S-400 surface-to-air missile system (NATO designation: SA-21 Growler). It will be published in the country in the near future.
SA-21 Growler exports are worth $2.5 billion, the amount Turkey paid a few years ago for the anti-aircraft missile system. This is the reason why Ankara was excluded from the F-35 Lightning II fighter jet development program of the fifth generation.
Belarus received the SA-21 Growler system for free. It was delivered within the framework of military cooperation with the Russian Federation. The anti-aircraft missile system is likely to be deployed near the Belarusian-Polish or Belorussian-Ukrainian borders.
The Belarusian anti-aircraft crews have undergone a full course of training in the combat use of the air defense system. Soldiers have been trained to use Russia’s SA-21 Growler surface-to-air missile systems.
