Saudi Arabia plans to acquire new artillery systems, French media has announced.

She said that the French company Nexter Group, which manufactures the famous CAESAR artillery system, will be the only one the Saudis will contact in this file.

This announcement comes after Mohammed bin Salman’s upcoming visit to France.

The CAESAR is a 155 mm self-propelled howitzer equipped with a range of regular, cluster and guided munitions capable of hitting various targets with high accuracy at a range between 4 and 42 km. The cannon is mounted on the back of a truck, giving it rapid mobility and deployment, and low operational value.

The cannon can be prepared for firing in less than a minute and can fire 6 rounds per minute.

The Tsar also has an intelligent fire control system and advanced navigation systems that replace the use of measuring devices and topographical teams.

The cannon has a hydraulic expansion system and a semi-automatic ammunition arming system.

The maximum speed of the cannon on the road can reach 90 km per hour, or 50 km per hour off-road, with a maximum range of 600 km.

• Height: 3.7 m (12 ft 2 in); 3.1 m (10 ft 2 in) (8×8)
• Mass: 17.7 tons (6×6); 28.7-30.2t (8×8)
• Engine: Diesel
• Crew: 5-6 (3, emergency)
• Manufacturer: Nexter Systems
Operational range: 600 km (370 miles)
• Place of origin: France

CAESARs come in 6×6 and 8×8 configurations and are in service in France and other European countries, the Middle East, South Asia, and East Asia. More than 300 cannons of this type have already been produced.
