NATO allies have begun training Ukrainian pilots on US F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter jets. This is what NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said.
The Secretary General of the Alliance welcomed the decision of several NATO member states to support Ukraine and start training pilots. Jens Stoltenberg also indicated that the decision to provide fourth-generation fighters will be taken later.
He thanked Denmark for the leading role of the Scandinavian country in resolving all issues related to the training of pilots of the Ukrainian Air Force. Ukraine is expected to be able to receive the F-16s in early fall.
So far, there is no information about which countries will transfer fourth-generation fighters to Ukraine. The main candidates are the Netherlands, Norway and Denmark, which operate the ancient Fighting Falcon.
