At the end of January, the United States announced that it plans to transfer Abrams tanks to Ukraine. And now, after nearly five months, a training program for the Ukrainian crews is about to begin.
And the Voice of America published this information, quoting a Pentagon spokesman, Brigadier General Pat Ryder. The training program will start “almost next week” in Germany. Ukrainian crews will arrive on the ground in the next few days.
The United States initially announced the transfer of M1A2 Abrams tanks to Ukraine. Later it became known that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive an outdated version of the M1A1 SA, which is in service with the US Ground Forces. This will make it possible to deliver combat vehicles this year, and not in 2024, as it was originally announced.
