Russian media said that the Merkava tank deal for Morocco is expected to be completed in the next few months.
The Russian vpk website, quoting the Moroccan news site “360,” said that Morocco will soon buy a batch of Israeli Merkava tanks for its armed forces. “360”.
According to him, Morocco, along with Cyprus, will become the first buyer of Merkava tanks outside of Israel. The deal is expected to close in the next few months.
The portal also claims that Morocco will buy Merkava tanks according to the terms of the Israeli side – without the right to transfer them to Ukraine.
Earlier, Rabat denied information published in the media that Morocco had transferred more than 70 T-72B tanks to Ukraine, which were modernized by Excalibur in the Czech Republic.
On May 22, Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita said, after a meeting in Rabat with his Ukrainian counterpart, Dmitry Kuleba, that the kingdom is in no way a party to the conflict in Ukraine. Bourita stressed that Morocco enjoys good relations with both Russia and Ukraine.
